Trauma Therapy

As a trauma therapist I’m here to provide you with specialized support and therapeutic assistance as you work through the effects of trauma in your life. It takes a lot of courage to seek help, and I’m honored to be a part of that journey alongside you, and provide you with support every step of the way. Creating a safe and trusting therapeutic alliance is not only essential, but that bond is something I value. Your emotional and psychological safety is my top priority, and I am committed to providing a confidential, non judgemental, and supportive space where you can share your experience and feelings and the healing begins. 

My framework comes from a trauma informed approach, meaning, I have the understanding of how trauma can impact your life and there is a sensitivity and fragility of our work to help you navigate your healing journey at your own pace. Our primary focus will be on helping you navigate the impacts of your trauma and work towards healing. This may involve addressing symptoms, teaching safety, challenging old narratives and turning your pain into power. 

Trauma therapy is a form of mental health treatment specifically designated to address the psychological and emotional impact of trauma. The primary focus is on healing and resolving the traumatic experiences themselves. I use various evidence-based techniques and modalities such as EMDR or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help you process and integrate your traumatic memories, reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and improve your mental health and functioning. I value collaboration and may coordinate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, to ensure a comprehensive approach to your care. 

What you will gain during your Trauma Therapy sessions.

  • Assessment: We will begin with a comprehensive assessment to better understand your specific trauma history, symptoms, and needs. This assessment will guide our treatment plan.

  • Trauma- Focused Therapy: We will use evidence based practices to process and integrate the trauma and begin the healing process.

  • Emotional Regulation: We will work on emotional regulation skills to help you manage overwhelming emotions and reactions that may stem from your trauma. You will learn various techniques that will help you regain control over your emotions. 

  • Coping Strategies: We will develop individualized coping strategies to deal with triggers, anxiety, and stress. We will explore and practice techniques that will work best for you. 

  • Self-Care and Resilience: Self-care and strengthening resilience are core components of healing from trauma. We will create a self-care routine that works best for you.  

Narrative Therapy: We will utilize this technique to rewrite your trauma narrative, or the story that you tell yourself. This will allow you to regain a sense of agency and control over your life.
